EWS Nursery Admissions to Start in Delhi from January 22

Nursery Admissions to Start in Delhi from January 1

At reputed and unaided schools, the admission process or nursery is likely to start on January 1 onwards in National Capital.  For entry-level classes, the admission process will be the same this year just like in last year. Imposition of upper age limit is the only change for applicants.

In around 1700 unaided and reputed private schools, nursery admissions are expected to start from January 1 next year, while Delhi government is supposed to share the official admission notification before December 15.

An official from DoE (Directorate of Education) told Hindustan Times, “We will announce the notification from December 15 followed by which the application forms will be out there from January 1. Unless any major change is seen, we are all set to go through this schedule.”

The official further said there is a slight change in the process of admission which may happen, i.e. the imposition of applicants’ upper age limit. As reported earlier by HT, the government is not going to make any changes to the rules for admissions in entry-level classes. Hence, it is up to the private unaided schools to decide their own guidelines.

The official added, “kids aged from 3 to 4 years will be eligible to seek admissions in Nursery, kids from 4 to 5 years will get admissions in KG, and kids from 5 to 6 years will get admissions in Class 1.” Nursery admissions create a lot of cry and hue every year.

Online-offline process confusing for parents

Parents remained confused last year regarding the admission process that falls under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category, which was online this year. Parents faced some technical errors, as per the PTI reports.

For online nursery admission in EWS category, the webpage crashed every few hours when the process started. Even worse, the website of a school was hacked.

No Admission for more than two kids from same parents

Usually, nursery admissions start in first week of January in Delhi and application process is closed by the end of January. The admission process started on January 2 this year in 1400 private schools in NCR.

A well recognized school in Delhi has refused admissions of more than two children from same parents. It seems that the school wanted to motivate citizens to have not more than two kids.

Issued by GD Salwan and Salwan Montessori, the two branches of Salwan School located in West Delhi, the registration forms have this condition mentioned. The form reads, “Parents with more than two children, including the child whose admission is required, are not allowed to apply.”

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has sent instructions to the schools to upload their admission process to its portal to ensure the transparency in the process.

Admission Process Starting in Chandigarh schools

The private and convent schools in Chandigarh have started issuing application forms for admissions to kindergarten and nursery classes. Now, parents started rushing to the best schools for admissions of their child. December 12 has been set as the last date for submission of application forms in such schools by the Chandigarh Education department.
